Description

12"x12"x1.5" acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas

I painted this in the middle of my most recent commission more to relax and not think about anything other than letting go of thinking. Interesting what happens through a cleared mind. This is more a sketch in concept to me, but I thought I'd share it with you guys since I'd sell it as is just like any other piece:D

Letting your mind wander for a while must have been the perfect thing for you to do. When you let go of all of your thoughts you got a really amazing painting out of it. Your color mixture I must say is fantastic, especially with the way you made each color distinctive through the blending and swirling but were still able to keep hold of your values so nothing has become "muddy". When looking at it at first glance the first thing I saw was an abstract, yet impressionistic take on a sunset. But, a sunset unlike one I have ever seen. Personally it seems to hold a mystical quality for me and the center of the painting being your lightest point is right where your eye is drawn to giving the piece it's depth and focal point as well as making it seem like it's a fiery abyss depending on which way you look at it. I don't think you should consider this piece a sketch... a concept yes, but it is a concept that you got in a full painting while seeming to skip the sketch stage.
